Sustainability is one of our firm’s core values. Not just in the way we think about our companies, but also the way in which we think about our own company. In 2018 we removed plastic bottles from the office, and from 1 January 2020 onwards, we will be offsetting our carbon footprint.

S.W. Mitchell has planted a grove of trees with Trees For Life. A Conservation charity dedicated to rewilding the Scottish Highlands.  The trees will be grown from locally collected seeds and will be one of a number of species planted such as Scots pine, willow, birch, rowan, hazel, alder, holly, aspen and bird cherry. The trees will be planted alongside other young, native trees, transforming open hillsides into healthy young woodland, rich in wildlife such as red squirrel, black grouse, capercaillie, wood ants and twinflower. Once the trees reach maturity, natural regeneration will go on to create the wild forests of the future for generations to enjoy.

The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that somebody else will save it. Although it may feel small, we all have a part to play and as a firm we feel proud to be constantly expanding our commitment to sustainability.
