S.W. Mitchell are proud to sponsor Cathy Brown, a former female world champion boxer and founder of initiative HeadGuard®. The HeadGuard® mission is to visit areas around the World where women and children have experienced trauma in the form of sexual assault, war experience, domestic violence, trafficking or any other form of life-altering situations. Not only have they been through horrific abuse but a lot of these women and children have lost their families and are unable to work as they may have no education, nor means of learning what to do, to get paid for proper legal employment. We aim to not only help these women and girls cope with traumas but also, to teach them a trade in sport to be able to earn a living.
Headguard®️ made a documentary to show the atrocities that are taking place towards women and children. And to show how boxing for empowerment helps deal with trauma and give a sense of belonging and wellbeing.
Cathy joins forces with Raksha Nepal and, together with a team from HeadGuard, takes seven girls on a profound journey into the breathtaking Nepalese mountains, where they leave their safe house for the first time. The group spends five days in a remote camp, protected by a team of Gurkhas from the SAS. There, Cathy and her team teach the girls the Boxology® Boxing Program, a course developed to teach individuals boxing, in the UK.
RAKSHA GIRLS is a story of survival, strength, and the unyielding will to overcome adversity, capturing the spirit of women and girls who refuse to be defined by their trauma.
They are raising funds through donations and a silent auction.
